The Inspiration

Casablanca, of course. I’m not a huge Bogey fan but there’s no denying the cool factor of Casablanca. From the Moroccan sets to the doomed love affair, I find it pure genius.

Pro fashion bloggers Kelly Framel and Jamie Beck recently produced a jaw-dropping editorial called Marrakepic, inspired by their travels in Morocco. You will be dazzled by graphic designer Kevin Burg’s cinemagraphs.

The high-low hem must’ve been in style ten years ago, because that’s how old this dress is. I wear it to weddings simply because I feel like a flamenco dancer in it. The bias cut, V-neck, and diagonal trim make it ultra flattering for curves. These Nine West satin pumps give a strong nod to the ’40s and I think you know how much I love vintage looks. Tip: To preserve satin shoes, which can stain in the rain, spray them with Scotch Guard. It really works!

Last year I worked as an editor of a lifestyle publication and often used items from my wardrobe in model shoots, which I styled and directed. This necklace was the star of an editorial called “All That Glitters.” I thought the model, Eleanor, looked fabulous in it. Glamour doesn’t have to be expensive. I paid $6 for it and bought three more to dangle from my overhead lamp turning it into an expensive-looking chandelier.
